BSFC joins national groups protesting corporate and governmental interference in free speech.

The Boston Society of Film Critics joins other voices across the country in vehemently protesting Disney-ABC’s suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from the ABC schedule and the roles played by the FCC, Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group in the decision. The BSFC membership considers the suspension the latest in a string of attacks on First Amendment rights, as media, educational and professional organizations have capitulated to pressure from an authoritarian government. As a group that embraces the free exchange of diverse opinions as a principal element of its mission, the BSFC condemns government and corporate actions that so threaten our democracy.
